The Report

Thanks to all who responded to our survey, attended our community meetings or who met us face to face or via Teams / telephone. The final report, together with the supporting Task Notes, have been delivered to the CLLD Local Action Group who have been considering which recommended actions they can obtain support for in their latest funding bid to Scottish Government. As with all such reports there are some recommended improvements that can be made quite quickly and easily, whilst others may require the introduction of new policies / practices and/or depend on additional or external funding.

For updated information about the CLLD and the projects that it is supporting, see their Facebook page.

About Mu Dheidhinn

The TAS Partnership has been asked by the Outer Hebrides Community-Led Local Development Local Action Group (OH CLLD LAG) to review community transport services on the Islands. Dh’iarr Buidheann-gnìomh Leasachaidh Ionadail fo Stiùir Coimhearsnachd Innse Gall (OH CLLD LAG) air TAS ath-shùil a thoirt air còmhdhail coimhearsnachd tro na h-eileanan.

The LAG partnership body manages the delivery of the Local Development Programme, bringing together a range of public, private and voluntary sector stakeholders to deliver innovative and sustainable community-led projects. ’S e an LAG a bhios a’ stiùireadh a’ Phlana Leasachaidh Ionadail ’s bidh iad ag obair còmhla ri diofar bhuidhnean gus pròiseactan coimhearsnachd innleachdach, seasmhach a thoirt gu buil.

Our Survey Ar Suirbhidh

In order to improve local community transport services and for recommendations to be made that will enhance the ways in which local people are able to travel, we need to hear your views about current arrangements. We are interested in what you have to say about (for example): Gus piseach a thoirt air cùisean, tha sinn airson ur beachdan a chluinntinn. Innsibh dhuinn:

  • What public or community transport you use?
  • What you use it for?
  • How well it meets your travel needs?
  • How it could be improved for you?
  • Whether you have any mobility constraints (e.g. have difficulty walking, seeing or hearing)and how this impactson your travel options?
  • How affordable are the fares?
  • Any comments you have on service quality e.g.vehicles,drivers, information, reliability?
  • Dè a’ chòmhdhail phoblach a bhios sibh a’ cleachdadh?
  • Carson a bhios sibh ga cleachdadh?
  • Dè cho freagarrach ’s a tha e dhuibh?
  • A bheil bacadh / duilgheadasan sam bith agaibh a thaobh siubhail (m.e. duilgheadasan ri coiseachd, fradharc no claisneachd) agus dè a’ bhuaidh a bheir sin air na roghainnean-siubhail agaibh?
  • Ciamar a tha cosgaisean?
  • Beachdan sam bith air na seirbheisean: carbadan, dràibhearan, fiosrachadh, earbsa?

The focus of the review is to find opportunities for services that can be community-led, controlled, or supported, including community minibuses, car-sharing, car clubs, and organised lift-giving. But in order to identify the potential of this approach, we need to understand the gaps in the current network of buses, school buses, transport to health and welfare facilities, taxis, and minicabs. The scope does not include air or ferry travel, but we are interested in how people get to and from airports and ferry terminals to make longer journeys. ’S e prìomhachas an ath-sgrùdaidh seo seirbhisean a shònrachadh a dh’fhaodadh a bhith gan stiùireadh agus gan ruith le taic na coimhearsnachd, mar eisimpleir meanbh-bhusaichean, com-pàirteachas chàraichean, club chàraichean agus toirt lioft dha daoine. Gus obrachadh a-mach dè ghabhadh dèanamh, feumaidh sinn ge-tà tuigse fhaighinn air na beàrnan a th’ ann an-dràsta ann an lìonraidh bhusaichean, busaichean-sgoile, còmhdhail gu goireasan slàinte, tacsaidhean, agus a leithid. Chan eil aiseagan no itealain mar phàirt den sgrùdadh seo, ach tha sinn airson cluinntinn mu chiamar a tha daoine a’ siubhail gu ruige, agus bho, phuirt-adhair agus puirt-aiseig.

We are aware that funding for future transport provision is currently limited, so we are focusing on achievable and practical initiatives that will bring sustainable benefits to the islands' communities. Tha sinn mothachail nach eil cus airgid mu choinneamh siubhail an-dràsta ’s nach bi san àm ri teachd. Mar sin, tha sinn a’ toirt prìomhachais do dh’iomairtean practaigeach a ghabhas an coileanadh agus a bheir buannachdan leantainneach do choimhearsnachdan nan eilean.

We’ve had lots of really good survey responses so far, making detailed and well-thought through comments which will be very helpful. Thank you very much.

Tha sinn air tòrr fhreagairtean air leth math fhaighinn mur thràth, le beachdan mionaideach a tha a’ sealltainn gun deach cnuasachadh a dhèanamh air a’ chùis, agus bidh iad sin gu math feumail dhuinn.
